Master in chemistry from Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB 1971). PhD in biochemistry from ULB. EMBO postdoc at Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1978). NATO visting researcher at Vanderbilt University (1984). Founder of the European Calcium Society in 1997 (cf http://www.ulb.ac.be/assoc/ecs). General Secretary of the Belgian Brain Council (cf http://www.belgianbraincouncil.be). Member of EDAB (European Dana Alliance for the Brain). Member of the board of Euroscience (2004-2008). Elected Chair of the Biomedicine Domain of the intergovernemental action COST (2010-2014). AERES (Agence d'Evaluation de la Recherche et de l'Enseignement Superieur) expert. Expert for Marie Curie fellowships, for INCA, ANR, MIUR, FCT and different Academia (Bulgaria, Georgia, Serbia).
