First and foremost, I'm a professor of otolaryngology, dentistry, and engineering at the University of Colorado Denver with adjunct appointments elsewhere. I am the cofounder, President and Chief Medical Officer of www.medvoy.com, a globally integrated, doctor to doctor referral platform. In addition, I have created several other medical device companies. My primary research centers around commercialization of devices that optically detect surface and near surface cancers. I consult for and speak to companies, governments, colleges and universities around the world who need my expertise and contacts in the areas of bio entrepreneurship, bioscience, healthcare, healthcare IT, medical tourism -- nationally and internationally, new product development, product design, and financing new ventures. I am involved with several global bioentrepreneurship education, research and practice initiatives and serve as the founding CEO and President of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs at www.sopenet.org and Director of the Certificate Program in Bioinnovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado http://business.ucdenver.edu/bard I am the cochairman of the 1st International Bioentrepreneurship Education Summit and Associate Editor of the Journal of Commercial Biotechnology at www.commercialbiotechnology.com and Editor In Chief of Medscape Reference Otolaryngology and SOPE Magazine. In 2010, I completed a Fulbright at Kings Business, the commercialization office of technology transfer at Kings College in London. Publications this year include several articles in the Journal of Commercial Biotechnology and co-editor of a bioscience business casebook, "Building the Case for Biotechnology."
