Dr. Pallav Bhatnagar

Post Doctoral Fellow
McKusick Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

Brief Biography:

I am currently a Post-doctoral fellow working on genomics of complex human diseases using genome-wide association and other high through-put genomic approaches at Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, USA. During this tenure I have published several international peer reviews journals. Prior to this position I worked in the School of Clinical and Laboratory Sciences at the University of Newcastle, as a post-doctoral research associate. During my stay I was involved in a project related with the pharmacogenetics of anti-microbial drug induced liver injury (DILI) funded by Department of Health, UK. My major responsibilities in DILI GENetics (DILIGEN) project included statistical genetic association of flucoxicillin and comaxiclav drug induced liver injury. This training also includes my participation in the Wellcome Trust advanced course on “Design and Analysis of Genetic-based Association Studies” at Cambridge, UK. To acquire these experiences, I finished my PhD in 2007 from Institute of Genomics and Intergated Biology, New Delhi, India. The core focus of my Ph.D thesis was the identification and characterization of pharmacogenetically relevant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the Beta2-adrenergic receptor (B2-AR), target for beta-agonist (salbutamol). From my thesis, I published 7 peer reviewed articles, patent and copyright, reflecting my interest and passion toward the field of human genetics.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

It is certainly a great start and open access journals should be promoted.
