Brief Biography:


Dr. Sinan Kockara received his BS in Computer Science from Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey. He received his Ph.D. from University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Right after his graduation in 2008, he joined Department of Computer Science at University of Central Arkansas as Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Conway, Arkansas. He holds several NSF grants and subawards in his account.

Research interests:


My research spans biomedical image processing and visualization, high performance and high throughput computing using CUDA technology, and augmented/virtual environments in surgical simulation setting. I have recently developed automated lesion border detection methods in dermoscopy

·Team mentor for UCA URSUS, won 3rd place in Microsoft Imagine Cup 2011 National finals in software design category among 350,000 student participants. Project title “Melanoma detection with Windows phone”. Team members: Sophomore Brendan Lee and graduate student Muhyeddin Ercan.
