Brief Biography:

I have founded the department of Medical Oncology at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences  Tirupati,( India ). Subsequently, I played a lead role in establishing a comprehensive cancer centre, housing medical, surgical and radiation oncology as well. Several thousands of cancer patients continue to benefit from this development, without which most would have suffered untreated and unattended.

1999–2000: Worked as Senior Resident in Department of Medical Oncology, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, India (NIMS).
1996-1997: Worked as Senior Resident in Department of Medical Oncology. Worked in hemato-oncology ward, BMT ward and outpatient services, All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi, India (AIIMS, IRCH).

Research interests:

Patient care, lymphoma-leukemias, Bonemarrow transplantation, teaching and training of manpower; and clinical trials.
Clinical trial experience: Conducted as Principle Investigator 4 GCP – ICH compliant multicentre national clinical trials and two international multicentre trials.

Research Activities:
1. Principle investigator – Participated as Principal Investigator from SVIMS, in the “Development of Cancer Atlas of India” – ICMR, National Cancer Registry Project.
2. Conducted a pilot study on Immunological profile in patient with solid tumours
3. A Case control study on risk factors for carcinoma stomach is currently under way.
4. Completed 3-phase II multi centre, GCP compliant clinical trials. Three international, multi centre clinical trials in progress.
5. Conducted clinical research on patterns of care, survival rates and epidemiology of important cancers in our region.

1. Attended 35th ESMO congress held at Milan, Italy from 8th Oct-12th Oct 2010
2. Attended the ASCO 2009 (28th May  to 2nd June 2009), Orlando, Florida, USA
3. Attended the 33rd ESMO Congress  held in Stockholm, Sweden from 12 -16 Sept 2008.
4. Attended  inside track conference organised by European School of Oncology “Leukemias: Molecular Insights to treatment paradigms” held in Mumbai from 7 to 9 March 2008
5. Attended 6th Annual meeting of INCTR at Chennai, India , 10th -13th December2005 and presented a paper “ Carcinoma of Stomach – 9 year experience at tertiary care hospital in India”.
6. Attended ISMPO conference at Bangalore, India, 8th -10th October 2004 and presented a paper “Blood cell types and cytokine patterns in solid tumour patients”.
7. Participated as a panellist “roundcell tumors in children, diagnosis and management” on 29th January 2001,ISMPO held at Hyderabad.
8. Participated in  ICMR workshop on Breast cancer, patterns of care and survival: 24th –25th Jan‘2004. at Bangalore, India.
9. Participated as faculty in the workshop in practical pediatric oncology (National Training Project Practical Pediatric Oncology) Conducted at NIMS, Hyderabad,22-23 Aug.2003
10. WHO sponsored workshop on ‘ Dissemination of Information’ Organized at S.V.Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati During March 18-20,2003.
11. Attended a DST (Govt.India) sponsored HANDS ON TRAINING WORKSHOP ON NEWER TECHNIQUES IN MOLECULAR ONCOLOGY conducted by Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai from Feb’20th to 28th ‘2004.
12. Attended IARC INTERNATIONAL COURSE ON CANCER EPIDEMIOLOGY – PRINCIPLES AND METHODS, 1-12 September 2003, Trivandrum, India.
