Brief Biography:


Lev V. Eppelbaum received the M.Sc in Geophysics (1982) at the University of Oil and Chemistry in Baku (Azerbaijan) and Ph.D. (1989) at the Institute of Geophysics in Tbilisi (Georgia). In 1982-1983 he conducted geophysical investigations in the Central Geological Institute of Non-Ferrous and Rare metals (“TsNIGRI”). From 1983 to 1990 he worked as a Researcher and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Geophysics in Baku (Southern Branch of the All-Union Geophysical Prospecting Institute). During 1991-1992 he had Postdoctoral Studies at the Department of Geophysics, Tel Aviv University (TAU). From 1993 to 2005 he occupied positions of Researcher, Senior Researcher and Senior Lecturer; in February 2005 he received at this Dept. a position of Principal Research Associate (Associated Professor).
He is author of about 260 publications, including 4 books: “Interpretation of Geophysical Fields in Complicated Environments”, (Kluwer Acad. Publ., Ser.: Modern Approaches in Geophysics), “Some Physical Foundations of Geodynamics” (Kedem Publ., Israel), “Iron and its unique role in the Earth evolution” (Mexican Geoph. Soc. Monogr. Ser.) and “Geophysical Studies in the Caucasus” (Springer, in Press), 96 articles and 35 Proceedings. His main research interests is the archaeological and environmental (ecological) geophysics based on the advanced processing and interpretation of potential and quasi-potential geophysical fields as well as integrated interpretation of geophysical and related data.
Prof. Eppelbaum gives at TAU courses “Potential Geophysical Fields”, “Environmental Geophysics” and “Principles of Archaeological Geophysics”.
He is member of Society of Exploration Geophysicists, International Society for Archaeological Prospection, EARSeL SIG (remote sensing and archaeology), American Geophysical Union, European Association of Exploration Geophysicists, Society of Mediterranean Geologists and Geophysicists, EuroScience, Geoinformatics (Japan), Israel Geological Society and Prehistoric Society of Israel.
Prof. Eppelbaum is reviewer of International Journals “Earth and Planetary Science Letters”, “Geophysics”, “Acta Geophysica”, “Geophysical Prospecting”, “Geophysical Research Letters”, “Planetary and Space Science”, “Applied Geophysics”, “Near Surface Geophysics”, “Planetary and Space Science”, “Advances in Geosciences”, “Marine Geophysical Researches”, “Geophysical Journal International”, “Journal of Geophysics and Engineering”, “Journal of Natural Hazards”, “Archaeological Prospection”, “Archaeometery”, “New Journal of Physics”, “Geophysical Prospection” as well as “HIAT Journal of Science and Engineering” and “Scientific Israel”. He is member of Editorial Board of the “Open Mineralogical Processing Journal”, “Open Petroleum Engineering Journal”, “LatinMAG Letters” and “Positioning”, and Guest Editor of “Advances in Geosciences” and “Jour. of Geophysics and Engineering”. He was selected as chaiperson and member of Organization Committee at seven International Scientific Conferences. He is a member of the International Commission “Rotation of the Earth”.
Prof. Eppelbaum consults a few organizations in the field of environmental geophysics in Israel and abroad. Prof. L. Eppelbaum is listed in “Who’s Who in America”, “Who’s Who of Professionals”, “Who’s Who in the World”, “Dictionary of International Biograph” (Cambridge), “American Biographical Institute”, etc. He was nominated in 2010 to the Christaan Hyugens Medal of the European Geophysical Union.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


I hope that I will present in the WebmedCentral an Ecological  Geophysics. Ecological Geophysics investigates a set of physical,  geological and other factors influecing the human health.
