Mr. Irfan Khattak

Associate Professor
General Surgery, Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, Pakistan
6-A, Jinnahabad

Brief Biography:

I am a faculty member at one of the leading Public Sector Medical Schools in Pakistan. I joined as Seniohr Registrar in 1997, and progressed through Assistant Professor to my present position of Associate Professor of Surgery and Consultant Surgeon. I qualified as a Fellow in General Surgery from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, back in 1995, and spent some time in Paediatric Surgery (obtaining a clinical Diploma in Pediatric Surgery from University of London), and some experience in Plastic Surgery. I continued my quest for improvement in Paediatric Plastic surgery and am now concentrating on Hypospadiology: the field of my special interest. I operate on around 50 patients of Hypospadias a year. Keeping in view the recent problems being faced by my region, I have secondarily developed special interest in Medical Ethics and Medical Education, both relatively neglected fields.

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:

I would like to learn and assist in learning. My objective is to achieve excellence in my field of interest and to transfer the knowledge to others in this field. My area is relatively far flung, and it is difficult to keep in touch with the rest of the medical world, except through a committed net-based community. Joining WebmedCentral will instantly make me a part of a large community of experts: and here I will be able to share my experience and learn from others.
