Brief Biography:


About Him: A dedicated and skilled surgeon, whose advanced technique of laparoscopy and robotic surgery has a cured thousands of people and helped them live healthier lives. His mission: Learn, evolve and teach endoscopic surgery. Increase the access of this modality to one and all. His Career: Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar started his journey into the field of advanced laparoscopy with a dream of incorporating it into cancer surgery and bringing the magic of laparoscopy within the reach of cancer patients. Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy was performed for first time in India by Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar which has been popularized over the world as the “Pune Technique”. He has trained many a surgeons and gynaecologists including renowned senior faculties at an international level. He is the first Indian surgeon to win an Award at the AAGL (American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists) held at Chicago, USA. He has demonstrated live surgeries at many surgical workshops conducted in India during the last five years and has been invited as an expert on laparoscopic, colorectal, pancreatic, oesophageal and gynaecological cancer surgery all over the world where he has also demonstrated live surgeries in many countries. Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar is a faculty at the AAGL and a member of the AAGL Oncology Committee. He is also a reviewer for many scientific journals including the JMIG (Elsevier Editorial System).
