Dr. Inamul Haque

Brief Biography:

Inamul Haque was born in Darbhanga, India. Dr. Haque received his BSc (1994), MSc (1996) and B. Ed (1998) in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia, a Central University in New Delhi. Dr. Haque received his Ph. D in 2005 under the supervision of Professor Faizan Ahmad, a great protein chemist. He then moved to USA in 2006 to pursue his postdoctoral training with Dr. Mark T. Fisher at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas, USA. He served as a postdoctoral fellow from 2007 to 2010 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kansas City, MO in the laboratory of Professor Sushanta Banerjee. Currently Dr. Haque is a Research Biologist at VA Medical Center, Kansas City, and has a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor in the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. He is particularly interested in the regulation and function of two of CCN family members, i.e., CCN1 and CCN5 in mediating epithelial to Mesenchymal transition (EMT) and SHh signaling. An additional area of research in his lab is focused on the role of microRNAs (small non-coding RNAs) in the regulation of invasive phenotypes in breast as well as in pancreatic cancer.

Research interests:

Given the importance of natural phytochemicals in cancer therapy, I am interested to find out a phytochemical that could enhance the efficacy of VEGF-targeted therapy in Renal cell carcinoma. I am also interested in the study the role of microRNAs in the regulation of invasive phenotypes in breast as well as pancreatic cancer.
