Dr. Ghayyor Ahmad

Brief Biography:


Dr. Ghayyor Ahmad did his M.Sc in Zoology from University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan and later completed his PhD in April 2010 from the Department of Gastroenterology and Endocrinology, University of Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany. During PhD, he has worked with the known legends in different areas of medicine that included Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h. c. Giuliano Ramadori (Gastroenterology), Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h. c. Wolfgang Engel (Human Genetics) and Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Gross (Medical Microbiology). His area of specialization is “iron-induced oxidative stress during acute phase reaction”. After the completion of PhD, he continued as post-doctoral fellow in the same department in Germany and later on his return to Pakistan, joined the Department of Pathology of King Edward Medical University (KEMU), Lahore, Pakistan in August 2010, where he was involved in different research and teaching activities of M.Phil and PhD students of the university. In KEMU, he also regularized and supervised a CDC (USA) and NIH (Islamabad, Pakistan) collaborative project of Lab-based influenza surveillance in Punjab of Pakistan. Throughout his career he has been involved in different individual and collaborative research projects and has authored several national and international publications. He joined the Department of Human Genetics & Molecular Biology of University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore as Assistant Professor (Molecular Biology) in March 2012, where his research group is working under the main domain of “Oxidative stress in different metabolic diseases”.

Iron metabolism; Cell signalling during Inflammation; Cytokines; Liver, Skeletal-Muscle-Injury Mechanisms; Diabetes; Molecular-Biology-Laboratory Techniques.

 

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


WebmedCentral gives a very fair opportunity to publish without any pre-publication procedural delays. However, it will take some time to establish itself in the scientific community and might require certain controls/policies to further assure the scientific community that only the very genuine articles will be published.
