Brief Biography:


Dr. Giridhara R Babu, Assistant Professor, Giridhar is an epidemiologist by training and Public health specialist with proven track of excellence. As a fellow of Future Faculty Programme, he has done his MPH in Epidemiology from School of Public Health at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Giridhar is a member of Charter class of Certified in Public Health by National Board of Public Health Examiners, USA. Giridhar is a PhD candidate in Epidemiology from UCLA School of Public Health and is pursuing his doctoral research in Non Communicable Diseases. He has publications in peer reviewed international journals. Giridhar is working with IIPH-Hyderabad as Assistant Professor. Also, he is currently serving as member of committee constituted by Government of Karnataka to create Public Health cadre and department in the state. Before joining IIPH-H, Giridhar worked as Special Reader with Dr's Jorn Olsen, Roger Detels and Beate Ritz for their courses on Epidemiology at UCLA and as Research Associate with Dr.Roger Detels. Earlier, Giridhar worked with the World Health Organization for more than 5 years. As State SMO for WHO-NPSP, he was responsible for leading efforts to stop Polio transmission in the state of Karnataka, constituting State Core Group on Routine Immunization in Karnataka and for initiating advocacy efforts for Measles surveillance in India. Giridhar also worked as Junior Resident at the Center for Community Medicine and the Department of Blood Bank at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He has also acquired Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics from National Law School of India University, Bangalore. He received M.B.B.S from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and MBA in Hospital Administration from Adam Smith University.

Wonderful idea to have open access for dissemination of studies across the world. Efforts should be made to support scholarly articles that might deserve publication but lack the ability to pay for publishing.
