Brief Biography:


James Harris, Jr., Ed. D. is an Adjunct Professor of Education at Southern Wesleyan University. Additionally, he serves as the Training Coordinator for the STD/HIV Division of South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Dr. Harris has some twenty-plus years of experience in instructional education in both the public and private sector as paid and volunteer staff. For the past 14 years he has work directly in Public Health having coordinated training for the HIV/AIDS educational efforts of the American Red and for the STD/HIV Division of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Dr. Harris’ initial work in HIV Prevention came in 1998 when he served as the Disease Prevention Education Coordinator for the Central South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross. While there he became an HIV Instructor, Instructor Trainer and National Faculty for the American Red Cross African American HIV Education and Prevention Program. He received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Music Education- Instrumental from Benedict College 84’. Completed the requirements for the Master of Arts Degree in Adult Education Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix conferred January, 2006, and received a Doctorate of Education Leadership Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design from the University of Phoenix conferred August 2010. Dr. Harris’ research includes a phenomelogical study entitled EXPLORING PERSPECTIVES OF STUDENTS ABOUT COMPLETION OF SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATION IN SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC SCHOOLS - Dissertation –July 26, 2010 University of Phoenix.
