Brief Biography:
I hold a MD degree in Community Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. I have served as a medical officer in remote areas of my state in India before joining medical college in 2000. Since then, I have been teaching in community medicine Department, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, at different capacities. I have been teaching introductory topics in bioethics on my own for the past two years. I was instrumental in installing an Ethics Committee in our institute. Now I am undergoing a MHSc in Bioethics at the UofT. This year, iam going to complete my FAIMER fellowship.
Academic positions:
Presently, I am teaching as Professor in the Community Medicine Department. I am serving as a member in different institute committees: Ethics Committee; Academic Sub-Committee; and Students' Advisor
Research interests:
Epidemiologocal research. I was involved in few research, which used a different method - RDS. Probably, we used it for the first time in the country in injecting drug users.
Otherwise, I am interested in other types of research.
Any other information:
I am interested in deliberation and teaching bioethics, research ethics in particular.
What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:
It is a great innovative idea. It would be both a challenge and adventure for authors. Hoepfully, it might bring out some of the missing studies, particulary negative trials reports.
