Dr. Tarek Belal

Brief Biography:


Dr. Tarek Belal is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry and Quality Control at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University, Egypt.

Dr. Belal received his BSc in Pharmacy in 1994, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Analysis in 2005 from Alexandria University.

In 2007, he joined the Department of Pharmacal Sciences at Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University, Alabama, USA as a research fellow.

He is currently teaching general and physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis and pharmaceutical quality control to pharmacy students in Alexandria University and in Pharos University in Alexandria.

Dr. Belal published ~32 research papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and about 6 abstracts in national and international conferences. He supervised 5 Master students in the field of pharmaceutical analysis using various instrumental techniques.

He served as a reviewer for 8 journals specialized in analytical chemistry and its applications.

 

Academic positions:


1- Demonstrator in Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University (February 1996 – March 2002).

2- Assistant Lecturer in Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University (March 2002 – October 2005).

3- Lecturer in Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University (October 2005 – October 2010).

4- Post doctoral research fellow in Department of Pharmacal Sciences, Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University, Alabama, USA by a grant awarded by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education (October 2007 – July 2008).

5- Associate Professor in Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University (October 2010 till now).

 

Research interests:


Pharmaceutical and forensic analysis using separation techniques mainly HPLC and GC.

Development and validation of stability indicating assays of pharmaceuticals using several instrumental techniques.

Development of chemical derivatization methods for the analysis of pharmaceutical compounds and compounds of forensic interest

 

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


WebmedCentral is a medium for dissemination of innovative research in different fields of science. Also, it can be a field for building relations for possible multi-disciplinary research and scientific co-operation between scientists and researchers form different areas of science.
