Dr. Muzamil Abdel Hamid

Brief Biography:


Muzamil Mahdi Abdel Hamid, male, PhD (Immunology), graduated from Faculty of Vet. sciences, University of Khartoum  in 1998.  He joined  the institute of Endemic Diseases, University of Khartoum in 1999. In 2002 he obtained his master degree in Molecular Biology. 2004-2008, he carried out  PhD  at the Biomedical Primate Research Centre, The Netherlands. He was  involved on malaria vaccines development. During his studies he managed to  developed an in vivo model- rhesus macaque/P. knowlesi for human vaccines testing.  He demonstrated the efficacy of the recombinant leading  malaria  antigen (AMA1). H e also been involved in testing of adjuvant. Muzamil published his PhD work on malaria vaccines in peer reviewed journals.  In 2009 he  rejoined  the institute of endemic diseases and based on his work he has been promoted to full Assistant Professor position. Since then he has been involved in teaching and  research on the genetics and immunology of malaria and  molecular resistance in  malaria vectors. In 2011 he has been selected for a four month fellowship of the European malaria vaccine development association (EMVDA) on research and development of malaria vaccines development, QC/QA and GMP. Currently Muzamil work focuses on setting of clinical sites for malaria vaccines testing  in Sudan.
