Brief Biography:

I was re-appointed as a GP educator in Bristol in 2009 as part of the ST3 team. I have a  particular interest in small group work, training trainers and developing General Practice and medical education in resource- poor countries. I am on the  Bristol PCT Performers’ List as a sessional GP and am a GP Appraiser. I was a GP trainer and educator since 1984 with the Bristol VTS and a GP in Barton Hill for 22 years until I resigned in 2002 to focus on medical education in developing countries. My International work includes: GP Educator and Community Health Programme director Nigeria 1990-1991; Visiting consultant to PHC reform and GP training programmes Kazakhstan 1997-2002; 2002-present Consultant with Partnerships in International Medical Education (PRIME www.prime-international.org.uk), visiting many countries in East Europe, South Asia and Africa to set up, run and advise on medical education and GP training initiatives. Also from 2003-2006 I was a Consultant to the GP development programme in Kosova with European Agency for Reconstruction. I’ve continued to work in Kosova occasionally for the RCGP in 2010. I was living in Nepal from Feb 2008 to May 2009 working with national institutions and charitable NGO's helping develop GP training, CPD and a new medical school.
