Prof. Ambikanandan Misra

Brief Biography:


Dr. Ambikanandan Misra is currently Professor in Pharmacy Department, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, and Coordinator of Technology Information Forecasting Assessment Council’s Center of Relevance and Excellence in New Drug Delivery Systems. With over 30 years of both academic and industrial experience in the field of Drug Delivery Research, he has more than 100 research publications, 20 formulation patents, 5 reviews, and 15 book chapters to his credit. He was accredited the national award  on Liposomal Dry Powder Inhalation on a National Technology day by Vice-President of India and is a major contributor to the pharmaceutical industry in the field of pulmonary, nasal and transdermal drug delivery. He was also awarded by American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists in Annual Meeting and Exposition held at Atlanta (Georgia) USA, on 16 Nov. 2008, for Outstanding Manuscript Award at 2008 of AAPS Pharmscitech for manuscript entitled “Preliminary Brain Targeting Studies of Intranasal Mucoadhesive Microemulsions of Sumatriptan” ; Dr.(Mrs) Manjusree pal Memorial Best Pharmaceutical Scientist  for the Year 2009 by APTI and 3rd IES National Teachers Excellence Award for Dr. R K Upadhyay Award.  He is in editorial board of three International Journals- Recent Patent Reviews in Formulation Design, Open Journal of Biotechnology and Lung Cancer: Targets and Therapy. He earned his M. Pharm. in Pharmaceutics from University of Saugar, Sagar, India, and his PhD in Controlled Drug Delivery Systems from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, India. Twenty students have been awarded and ten students are presently registered for their PhD (Pharmacy) degree in his supervision.

Research interests:


My research interests are in the field of pulmonary, nasal and transdermal drug delivery to treat local and systemic disorders.

 

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


A unique portal for rapid and free dissemination of biomedical knowledge and made substantial contribution to science.  It will give authors an opportunity to publish in open domain their research without much barrier and will open out of the box thinking.
