Brief Biography:


I graduated from Department of Veterinary Science, Zhejiang Agricultural University (now Zhejiang University) and obtained my MSc (Vet Sci) and PhD (Vet Path) from Massey University, New Zealand. Over the years, I worked for Zhejiang Agricultural University (Hangzhou, China), Trudeau Institute (New York, USA), Vaccines and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO, Saskatoon, Canada), Wakefield Gastrointestinal Research Institute (Wellington, New Zealand), Montana State University (Bozeman, MT) and National Research Council Canada (Ottawa, ON). I have more than 110 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has hold many research grants including those from National Health Institutes (NIH), USA and Health Research Council (HRC) of New Zealand. I have also served as an ad hoc member in many NIH Study Sections on biodefense and host-pathogen interactions and as reviewer for many national and international grant agencies. Currently, I am an associate editor for BMC Infectious Diseases and an editorial member in World Journal of Gastroenterology, World Journal of Vaccine, World Journal of Gastrointestinal Physiology, World Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine. In addition, I have served as a reviewer for many scientific journals such as Journal of Infectious Diseases, Infection and Immunity, and Journal of Leukocyte Biology.

Research interests:


The current major research interests in my laboratory are the immunopathogenesis of mucosal infection and inflammation and the development of mucosal adjuvants and vaccines. 

 

What I think of the idea behind WebmedCentral:


It is an novel idea with great potential to improve the scientific review process fundamentally. The challenge to us is how to establish the quality, reputation and impact of this journal/forum in the scientific and publishing communities so that we will not become just one of these thousands of new online journals.
